Creative Spirit - Joy In Learning / Character Education

Joy In Learning Newsletter

Welcome to our nineteenth issue of our Joy in Learning Newsletter!

The current Joy in Learning newsletter contains new information about the Joy in Learning / Healthy Play program and related subjects. It's filled with professional articles, stories, articles and games from the creators of Healthy Play, youth servicing professionals, educators and subscribers actively involved with character education, school safety and improving academics, statistics, and children responses.

Highlights In This Issue...

  • Editorial: Find out about the national outbreak of NDD. Detrimental physical and mental effects upon children who stay indoors have been documented and it causes serious concern for their well-being. I explore why it is important to get kids outside and into nature.

  • Game of the Season: SPUD. Keeping in the spirit of fun outdoor summer games we revisit an old favorite given a Healthy Play adjustment allowing everyone playing to feel like a winner.

  • Healthy Play Trainings! Call 1-800-742-0708 for information on Healthy Play Trainings at your school or organization.
    * Healthy Play is A Solution training series now available on DVD. We continue our sale on both the DVD and VHS series. Only $150.00, down from $350.00

  • Humor: The English language sure is wacky! So many paradoxes abound. And, just look at that word, “paradox.” Is that what happens when you see two physicians at the same time? Take a humorous look at why our language is sometimes baffling to our students.

  • Inspirational musings, wise sayings, letters from teachers as well as the healthy players themselves. This issues features students from Ironwood, Neal Dow and Laurelwood Elementary Schools who provide thoughts on how playing in a Healthy Play manner makes them feel better about themselves and their peers.

We hope that your fall semester is filled with joy and playfulness. Utilizing Healthy Play will reduce stress; build morale and foster cooperation and creativity. Our Character Education program, video series and newly revised book, Learning to Play, Playing to Learn, all have made a major impact on the health, safety and academics of children, educators and youth-serving professionals throughout many states. The program works!

If you have any questions, issues and/or great stories to tell us, we invite you to dialog with us at 1-800-742-0708.

Sincerely,
Charlie Steffens and Spencer Gorin
